ARTIST BIO

The delicate beauty and mystery of nature has always captivated Rosemary and greatly influenced her art work.  From the organic shapes, soft earthy tones and rich textures to the flora and wildlife.  Rosemary works in an array of mediums, including acrylic paint, ink, graphite and oil pastel.  Also included are vintage botanical prints, decorative papers, gold and silver leaf. Layers are built up to give the illusion of depth, then sanded and rubbed back to create a weathered appearance that evokes the influence of time.  Rosemary rarely pre-plans her work, but rather allows it to develop and tell it's own story. "It is the mood of the subject that interests me" Rosemary explains, "I aim to convey a sense of calm and tranquility, as well as intrigue and a sensitivity to the subject.  I want the viewer to look carefully and find the small hidden elements, it is about the fragile beauty around us that needs to be viewed closely to be appreciated."

Rosemary was born in Australia and raised on the Mornington Peninsula.  She grew up in an artistic family who encouraged her imagination and love of creativity.  Painting since an early age, it is now, later in life, that Rosemary has taken the brave step of following her dream to become a full time artist.  Many hours are spent in her art studio, situated on three acres of garden and natural bushland where she finds an endless supply of ideas and inspiration.  Rosemary has been represented by various galleries within Australia, she has had successful solo and joint exhibitions and regularly participates in local and metropolitan art shows.  Rosemary is also co-founder of e an artists co-operative, where she conducts art classes and workshops.

Rosemary is currently represented by: www.panoplygallery.online  and www.ryazanoffgallery
